The Big Rapids Housing Commission was created in 1963 by the City of Big Rapids in accordance with Public Act 18 of the State of Michigan.  Although initially established to provide safe, affordable housing for low income families, over the years the Housing Commission has expanded its role in the community to offer a variety of housing services. The Housing Commission serves approximately 600 people as a result of various programs that are administered.

The mission of Big Rapids Housing Commission is to provide quality, affordable housing for the Community while also seeking to expand affordable housing development opportunities for the residents of Big Rapids.
